7th July 2025

North East Family Fun Day for HospiceCare  and Dementia raises £1000’s on one of the hottest days of the year.

A recent Family Community Fun Day in Alnwick, organized by Alncom, has raised a significant amount of money for Hospice Care North Northumberland and Dementia Care. The event, held at Alnwick Town Football Club, featured a variety of activities including football games, charity “donatiom only“ fairground rides, a raffle, and fun games for children. The event was well-attended, with hundreds of families participating and enjoying the day.

The event was a collaborative effort between organisers and founders Alncom to raise much needed funds for Hospice Care North Northumberland.

Kindly hosted for the third year running on behalf of Alncom by Chairman of Alnwick Town FC Tommy McKie, Hospice Care North Northumberland and Alncom volunteers shook buckets all day and ran a charity raffle with a £1000 holiday voucher as the star prize from Hays Travel and multiple other prizes from all over the North East including the Dakota Hotel, WATA, Bailiffgate Hotel, Tempus at Charlton Hall, The Secret Spa, Bells Menswear, Mighty Dub Fest and many more.

Alncom handed out free bucket hats and sunglasses at the entrance gate as the families and locals arrived to help keep everyone keep shaded in the hot weather.

The event also hosted a live multi-team football tournament, which saw club sponsors Thorburn Brothers narrowly defeat Team Alncom in the final at the charity day which was held on Saturday, July 5th.

RAF Boulmer, Hacketts, Alnwick U16’s, MKM, Tustain Motors and The Onion Club all played in the match raising further vital funds.   Mini footballs and multi-coloured ducks were handed out free to the children who spent a happy day at the football ground.

The funds raised will support the work of HospiceCare North Northumberland, which provides hospice and dementia care services in the region. Hospice Care also offers a "Hospice at Home" team that provides support to families, including those dealing with the challenges of dementia.

Director of Alncom Gareth Carter said; “This was a collective effort and we’re really proud of the whole team at Alncom.  It’s been a lot of work, but seeing what a difference it’s made to the community, especially with businesses coming together to support our Annual Charity Fun Day once again, has all been worth it.”

Gareth Carter continued; “We are extremely grateful to the many businesses, hotels, restaurants and partners who donated and took part.  This will have a direct result of supporting those facing challenging health issues, support for relatives at some of the most difficult times of their lives and helping the incredible initiatives such as Dementia Walking Football in Northumberland.”

The Hungry Seagull Food Truck who are normally at the Quayside Newcastle Sunday Market, also came up to serve sweet treats, churros, waffles and milkshakes on the day.

Lawrie Stevenson, Director of Alncom added; “We are already planning next years charity event for the first Saturday in July 2026 and anyone wishing to take part or donate a prize, well it’s never too early to support your community!”
