North Farm Cottages

North Farm Cottages is situated in the stunning coastal village of Embleton. Amenities include log burners, hot tubs a private swimming pool and grass tracks leading right up to Embleton Bay.

The business started in 2006 with an initial 6 cottages converted from a disused farm building and has now grown to 20 holiday lets ranging from 2 to 12 bed cottages. Much of the growth of the business comes down to the growing popularity of Northumberland as a desirable tourist destination as Richard Manners explains, ‘There’s several things putting Northumberland on the map, The Alnwick Gardens and Alnwick Castle are two of the things that spring to mind. In the last ten years the people have come from much further afield. It used to be from roughly Yorkshire to Edinburgh was your main catchment area, but now it’s huge. I mean, they're literally coming from everywhere including America and further afield. Northumberland now is such a desirable location!’

The relationship with Alncom began due to the continued growth of the business. ‘Quite often people take a week's holiday. But…they’ve got to do some work when they're on holiday. But if the family can go swimming or can go down to the beach while you do half a day's work to keep your boss happy, everybody's a winner. Everybody loves a hot tub or a wood burner, but I think the internet is definitely the biggest thing that people have to have.’
